Dr Shoaib Hamid is a Consultant Cardiologist managing all aspects of cardiovascular disease including ischaemic heart disease (angina and heart attacks), hypertension (high blood pressure) and heart failure (breathlessness and fluid retention).
Dr Hamid qualified in 1994 from St George’s Hospital Medical School, University of London and completed his cardiology speciality training in London at St George's Hospital and St Thomas' Hospital.
Dr Hamid was awarded a British Heart Foundation Fellowship and studied inherited heart conditions causing cardiomyopathies and sudden cardiac death as part of his MD. He has published and presented research at national and international meetings on cardiomyopathies, pacemakers and cardiac resynchronisation therapy.
Dr Hamid's specialist interest is in heart rhythm disorders (fast, slow and irregular heart rhythms) including the investigation and management of palpitations, dizzy spells and blackouts. This includes patient assessment for and implantation of pacemakers (bradycardias and heart failure) and defibrillators (ICD’s) for ventricular arrhythmias. He has achieved certification from the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners as a Certified Cardiac Device Specialist.
