Introduction

Dr Cheung is a UK trained Consultant Dermatologist with a specialist interest in skin cancer and skin surgery. He is also experienced in managing a broad range of skin conditions such as acne, eczema, psoriasis, axillary (armpit) excessive sweating with botulinum toxin injections and Roaccutane for severe acne. He has also held several senior clinical leadership positions within the NHS and has been commended for his contribution to clinical research. Recently he has relocated to London where he continues to have a busy wide ranging dermatology case mix in both his NHS and non-NHS practices including treating skin cancer and skin surgery as well as removing lumps and bumps.

He graduated from Dundee Medical School in 2000 where he obtained an additional medical science degree in Pharmacology with Honours. He finished his general medical training in Birmingham. His Dermatology specialist training was undertaken in the West Midlands, which he completed in 2007 to become a Consultant Dermatologist. In 2015, he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (London) as a mark of his medical achievements.

Dr Cheung has held various medical leadership roles within the NHS, which includes the Skin Cancer Lead and clinical Cancer Lead for the Trust, and Dermatology Clinical Director. Furthermore, he has also been the regional Dermatology research lead for the West Midlands for the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), a NHS funded body. He has also developed new clinical services such as, dermatology research, photodynamic therapy and an advanced dermatological surgery in some of the hospitals he has worked in.

Dr Cheung has a broad range of dermatology interests enhanced by considerable experience in various medical leadership roles. He provides a holistic and realistic assessment of your skin issues.

Research interests

Dr Cheung has been extensively involved in dermatology clinical research, which included studies of new psoriasis, actinic keratosis and vitiligo treatments.

In 2016, he was awarded the prestigious National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Leading Commercial Principal Investigator Award. He also received earlier commendation from the same awarding Body. Furthermore, he has been the Dermatology co-lead of the NIHR West Midlands Local Clinical Research Network and was a member of the Dermatology National Specialty Group research committee. He remains part of the expert group assessing new studies.

Publications

His continued academic interest have led him to be involved in the publications of national audits of skin cancer and acne management as well as a dermatology representative of the NICE group that recently produced guidance into certain joint disease care. Furthermore, he is a member of a British Association of Dermatologists subcommittee.
